I think it's about time the BBC dropped him.  The BBC could probably get Jermain Jenas anyway for half the price of Lineker?

To support your argument, you provide a link to the Daily Mail, and you describe Lineker as not the sharpest tool in the box ( as a MOTD presenter).

Lineker seems to have become a bête noir for the Right and far Right in UK politics, a bit like Greta Thunberg (spelling), Drag Queens and transgender issues. All part of the « anti woke «  agenda.

Indeed — and as a BBC employee (and one of if not the highest paid one at that) he is a target for the anti-BBC traditional press barons who have tried for years to get the corporation crippled because they see it as a major competitor and threat to their own revenues and reach (as well as a balanced counter to their own agendas).
