I counted the road signs the other day from Furnival Square roundabout to the turning point where you can avoid entering the bus gate on Arundel Gate.

7 highly visible signs in the space of approximately 100 metres.  How much warning does someone need.

If you're too stupid to avoid getting a fine with all the warning signs, I'd challenge your mental capability to be at the wheel of a vehicle in the first place.

Yes very true. The only thing I would say about those signs is they could do with more permanent signs or ones better with high winds. They had fallen down for a good two weeks at least before they were picked up again but no excuse when they are all up.

Just enough fine money (tax free) to fill a few pot holes in ..and not just in up market areas either !,

Do you actually think that a Labour / Green led council actually favours more affluent areas? Seriously?

By the way, surplus income from bus lane / gate fines goes towards public transport related improvements. The law is very prescriptive on what this money can be spent on.

Council Statement on Revenue Use

Sheffield City Council clarified that the money raised from the Arundel Gate fines is "restricted in legislation." They added, “Any surplus from its operation contributes towards highway maintenance and will in the 24/25 financial year provide additional funding for the public transport levy."
