Waste of money?

It's a good idea to get them microchipped but it shouldn't be made mandatory.

About 7 years ago our cat completely vanished one day, which was odd because she always used to stay in the back garden. After three months she still hadn't come back and we'd given up hope. One day I was walking home from work over a mile from my house and randomly found her on the street which I couldn't believe. The person who lived next to where I found her said she appeared a few weeks previously and that some people had put food down for her. If someone had checked her for a microchip then we would have been reunited with her a lot sooner. If I hadn't walked down that particular street on that specific day, then I doubt we would ever have seen her again.

All pet cats in England must be microchipped by 10 June 2024. Why?

I understand with dogs, if a dog attacks someone, we want to know who the owner is.

Or if a dog goes missing, if we find it we will know who the owner is.

But cats have one owner, then if someone down the road gives them some TLC and food, they then stay with that person.

Does the Government not have any other laws to pass, that are more important?

As for why, it was certainly a campaign by a cat charity

Are they snipped ?

Yes matey. Both done.

Not cos I wanted to but I didn't like the idea of the male marking his territory and the girl is done because she's originally from Wybourn. 👍

Very mediocre trolling, but we’re used to it.
