Harlequin, Nursery St

Recommended Posts

I understand the previous owners have left this pub and on walking past earlier today I noticed it was having a lick of paint and a spruce up.

Anyone have any info on who's taking it on or when it is expected to re-open?

Building owner doing some essential Building maintenance, new operator expected to sign lease some time this month. The new operator will make an announcement in due course but they already run two other well regarded Sheffield real ale / craft beer pubs so should be a safe pair of hands.

Sounds promising! Am I right in thinking the new operator has previously been associated with the pub?

It's a shame but the place is just on the wrong side of the road, which is a real pain to cross at the best of times. It's on the extremities of the real ale circuit. If it's to succeed, I think it needs another pub that side of the road to make it worthwhile

There's a crossing less than 100 meters away..... and also relatively close to a few others (such as Riverside)

Yes there is, but it doesn't make crossing the road any easier, it's a bit like playing Frogger

Opening earlier on the weekend would help this, make a good first stop before the rest of the circuit. Would only need to cross the road once then.

The new management are hoping to have the pub open either end of this month or early August. A few bits of refurbishment work still to finish off first.

It's the same people as the Rutland Arms and Crow Inn and will offer a selection of real ales and other craft beers,  traditional cider and wines/spirits from independent producers.

They also plan to introduce good quality fresh pub food and live music at a later date.

The pub is fairly close to Kelham Island,  linked to Millsands by a footbridge, walkable from the City Centre or Victoria Quays (home to Dorothy Pax bar!) and on bus routes 7/8.

Sounds cracking - The Rutland and the Crow are very different pubs but both great in their own way

Great place to start the Real Ale Trail. Then on to the Riverside, Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern, Shakespeare's and finish of with a mega blow-out at 7 Spices.

Proper pub crawl.
