Parson X: Police Dogs tackling criminals

There's plenty of less well off people (of all ethnicities) who somehow manage to cope/survive without resorting to crime.  Poverty isn't an excuse for lawlessness.

That's true Martin, but poverty does make it more likely that people will commit crime. You could probably argue it the other way - being brought up in a rich household and being sent to Eton doesn't guarantee you'll turn out to be a selfish, entitled prikc, but it certainly increases the chances.

No poverty it is not an excuse of crime.  But it is an explanation for crime.  There always are going to be some bad apples who turn to crime regardless of circumstances.  But when people are in poverty they are simply more likely to succumb to crime through circumstances.  Not all, or even most perhaps, poor people will.  Of course they won’t.  But more people are more likely to turn to crime if poor.
So when someone starts bringing racism into the debate it is stoking up division and hiding the real problem.  Poverty.  It is wrong to start on the ‘send them back’ line if they are not white.  It’s also wrong to start demonising white people from certain areas as basically being ‘white trash’.
