Strange how Barnardo's have released it at this time - especially as the initial claims were made in 2014.

You haven't actually read the report? It was released now, because that was the timeline.

The report was commissioned in 2022 to look into a period between 2013 and 2016 at the specific church, split into two parts, and was published on a timeline agreed with all involved parties this week.

No - I didn't read the report, and if what you say is correct, it was obviously just an unfortunate coincidence.

i can't be arsed to reread it from memory, didn't  he volunteer with the church 2014-2016 then made his  allegations in 2019?

looking at his youtube channel, he come across as a bit of a perpetual victim looking for a church conspiracy, judging by his description of Miriam Cates  Ted Talk, at least he's had a book out of it and some attention.

And yet, despite your personal feelings... an independent report looking into all the evidence has upheld his complaints on all four counts and has been accepted by the church and diocese as a true account with the requisite apologies, etc.

You wouldn't be trying to victim blame, would you? 😉

His traumatic incident  took place in 2014 and didn't complain about it at the time.

Report says,

MD asked for prayers to be focused on his sexuality and feeling after the experience that ‘a burden had been lifted’ he could then, five years later complain he had been subject to an experience which impacted on his mental health.

so he continued at the church volunteering until 2016 his complaint was made in 2019

Report was delayed because of covid

It's 2024 and this is still the level of understanding some people have about how human beings deal with trauma.

Grow up, Beechwood.

After Savile and everything else, you really would hope people had gained a better understanding of how different people process trauma, it's quite depressing how uninformed people can be.

Do you not think it an important topic that a report has just been published showing this information involving a local church and a local candidate? A number of news sites certainly seem to think it important as they are featuring it, so it must be of interest to some people.

And for the avoidance of doubt, I’d have posted it whether it was an election or not and whether it was a Conservative candidate, Labour candidate or any of the others.

Given he was the victim of an “exorcism” ritual / prayer group in 2014 which is before Mrs Cates was on the board of trustees. 2016-2018

a complaint wasn't made until  2019...... its unsurprising Mrs Cates is saying she knows nothing about it, title is misleading, but it's Headlines and clickbait so it's fine.No Thanks Spam GIF by megan lockhart
