Mister M
Apparently the previous Deputy PM Oliver Dowden said that the previous Health Secretary Victoria Atkins would be someone he'd like to see....Okay. The right wing have an trio of ghastly harpies to choose from - Priti Patel, Suella Braverman and Kemi Badenoch....Probably who can be most unpleasant will whittle that contest down. I think Mark Francois should be allowed to have a go....It'll give us all something to laugh at anyway
Mister M
At one point there were the '5 families' of the Conservative Party - Not sure if they still exist, or the election has put paid to that. Who do they think they are the Godfather? The Pop Cons, the 1 nation caucus, the common sense group, ERG, and the other ones

Mister M
Just now, melthebell said: Is there any MPs left to do the choosing AND be chosen? There's Danny Kruger, MP for Devizes and Wiltshire. Before the election he said: the Tories offer “the change that's needed”. Adding: “We've been in power for a long time and I recognise that people think it's time for a change. “Actually, we represent the change that's needed. “Labour represents more of the same". Anna B
4 hours ago, Gormenghast said: Does it really matter? Yes, it does, very much. They are the figurehead of the party. They set the tone and the rules. If the media takes against them they can forget power, they've had their chips. They need to be pretty special to fulfil all the requirements needed, and sadly the current crop aren't much to write home about are they? But hopefully, cometh the hour, cometh the man (or woman.)
Anna B
Pity Penny Mordaunt lost her seat. IMO she might have made a good, charismatic leader for the Tories. Maybe they can parachute her into a safe seat in the near future.
geared
Penny Mordaunt was their best chance to quickly repair the party and present a competent face going forward. The issue now is they make the same mistake Labour did post 2010, where they chose more extreme leaders which further alienate the electorate.
