It's not Cricket (or is it)

Recommended Posts

I like my cricket, be it a full Test, an ODI or a T20, as long as England are playing, I'll watch it, it doesn't matter if it's the Ladies or the men playing. Now I can't tell you all the players names, or their Stats, I don't watch it for that, (it makes for hard work I think)
Knowing that most of the time, none of the TV channels will show a live full test match, I invested in Sky Sports.
Which brings me to the "100" - Never liked the idea of this type of game from the start, heavily commercialised crap. I have tried to watch it but........... Just had a look at the first game of the season at the Oval (Ladies) Na, it's not for me, but I did hear something new to me, They have had a pay rise, Last year the best female players could earn £30,000 a year, now the top female players pay has gone up to £50,000. Yep! £50,000 - I knew it was commercialised, but not to that extent.
Your Thoughts.

Maybe girls will request cricket in school for that amount of money.

I enjoy watching the lionesses matches as much as, and maybe even more than the men's, It was them that got me watching Ladies England football.

A point I never mentioned in the OP was - There are 7 Hours of the "100" on BBC 1 today, and they can't show a test match.

Well yes, they dont have rights to home England Test games, Sky do. Channels cant show stuff they dont have the rights to.

There in lies the problem, any team, with or representing a country, by utilising their name should be free to watch, for the citizens of that country,

I disagree, we have dedicated channels now that can show things properly and in full.

The BBC used to regularly miss balls of Test matches to show the 2.30pm from Newmarket, imagine if that happened now.

Not a fan of the hundred, I barely if ever watch the games, Im not a T20 lover either, but I do watch the England T20s, Ive grown to enjoy the 50 over one dayers.

But the hundreds a money spinner for the counties and apart from the sky money, its the only thing bringing cash into the counties, the youngsters love it they buy up all the merch and its promoting cricket to a younger audience, so Im afraid it looks like its here to stay.
