Those pesky facts eh, always getting in the way of agendas.

Still, just say "MSM" and you can simply make things up to fit your personal bias.

It seems like hospital orders are being used as a new front in the culture wars. Let's just ignore all those cases where a defendant pleads insanity but is sent to prison, and pretend that hospital orders are being given out like deli tickets for some vague, inexplicable reasons.

A sadly inevitable consequence of cutting and neglecting mental health services for 14 years, if indeed it is mental health related.

Id say it goes back further, It was Thatcher that brought in care in the community, people were moaning about what was happening in institutions. Care in the community sounds ok in theory, not being locked in big concrete buildings for years if not the rest of your life.

The trouble is like all services, successive governments cut services and underfund services to save money.

Its then a bomb waiting to explode, people need help, struggle to get help, their mental health then gets worse. Families struggle to cope, get no help, less offices and people to visit for help.

if somebody with mental health issues won't take their medication, the family can't get them to take it, and there's nobody in mental health services that can make them take it they don't take it, they get worse, they have "episodes", which can have dire consequences.

Not saying that's what has happened in this case mind.

There is a way of making people take medication, it's called a Community Treatment Order. However, the consequence for not adhering to your CTO is that you are recalled to hospital - which is full. So it doesn't work.

My point is if there's less people employed to check people are taking their medicines due to cuts there's more chance  people may not be and getting away with it.

Kind of, but I think it's more that if people become unwell, there's fewer people around to spot it. There's more to good mental health than meds, there can be many reasons why someone might become seriously unwell - noisy neighbours, debts, family conflicts, benefit sanctions - it's really variable. But compared to 15 years ago, the response to people who are unraveling is much less, much later.
