Some absolute belters of posts here from blokes squirming out a defence for another bloke convicted of raping a girl who was just about post-pubescent.  Top job.

Only if you mistakenly believe those blokes (not sure how you know their gender?) are defending the abhorrent act of rape.....which they aren't....

It's as simple as this an adult Man flies to another country to meet a child and have sex with her.

He's a Nonce, Paedophile and Scum.

It's as simple as this. 17-year-old boyfriend sleeps with 15-year-old girlfriend.

"He's a Nonce, Paedophile and Scum"..... Exactly the same levels of anger, outrage and punishment for the rest of their life expected....right?     Can possibly be any nuance or consideration or variation.

Black and white justice.... Right?

God sake.  We know. We all know.  That is what he was charged with, sentenced, jailed and served time for.  Nobody is disputing or even disagreeing with the fact of him committing a crime.

However, as I have been trying to say all over this thread.  why the hell do people like you feel it's justified for this person to be additionally if not permanently punished, despite being a free man, and despite the reported circumstances of the crime not fitting someone who is a clear and present danger going forward.

How is it so hard for you to understand that crime and punishment is not and should not be simple black and white.

Blindly applying X without consideration of  circumstances has impact. Hence my suggested sample case above where a couple of school kids, one 17-year-old and one 15-year-old, are sleeping together.....

Would you think it fair for that 'black and white' justice to toss the 17 year into the same category box as violent wife batterers  holding down their partners by force and committing sex acts upon them?

Do you really think it fair that our immature 19 year old athlete taking up the consented invitation and wholly knowingly offering from our desperate to be older 12 year old girl is really proportionate to be in the same punishment box as serial paedophiles involving toddlers with terabytes of kid images on their computers?

Its like putting a mars bar shoplifter in the same punishment box as some armed robber who knocked off a Barclays.

Thank god the people actually making the decisions understand mitigation and appropriate sentencing.
