The Conservatives used to know how things worked, Labour think that they know how things work, whilst the Lib-Dems think that they know should work, mix that all together and you get what we’ve got.

The Tories know what worked for them.

Unfortunately with the ever growing disparity between the haves and the have nots, what is good for the Goose is no longer good for the gander.

Perhaps their greatest achievement in modern times is convincing those most in need to vote against their best intentions and submit to a life of ever increasing hardship.

I thought otherwise because I am correct.

UK universities are part of the private sector.

In reality the funding of the fabric of Universities if made by the Private Sector, If you wished to invest in our universities all that you need to do is to purchase shares in the Private Sector companies that funds them.

Surely a fair taxation system would tax everyone the same?

You could just tax everyone at 30% with no exceptions.

Indeed. A basic allowance, then the 30%  would have to be rigorously applied to all taxpayers on all money. No dodgy accountants finding fancy loopholes, no hiving off huge amounts to the Cayman islands. etc. And that means rewriting a lot of the legislation, and custodial sentences for miscreants.

And people should be able to see where their hard earned taxes are being spent, with big improvements to public services etc.

Well Anna, your ‘dodgy accountants’ would in the main be qualified individuals/firms that derive their income from from providing a set of accounts that are acceptable to the Revenue. Legislation comes from Parliament so your first port of call should be your MP, whose own accountant will be using every ‘loophole’ known to man/woman in order to mitigate his/her personal tax liability, so good luck there.

I agree that we need to pay them more, but we are poor compared to some countries.

The educated will often go to the best place/country to raise their family.

The UK has been recruiting from the poorest countries, even ones on the red list.

This raises an interesting point .

Do these folk being recruited from poorer countries have the same training, schools, work experience and so forth that would be the same as the UK employees?

There are strict regulations about which qualifications are acceptable and from where.

Here is a summary
