What it means to me…

Sitting under a blanket..possibly two…watching tv…having cancelled sky etc…

Less socialising..as in meals out..

No heating on.

You know what…I’d been better off saying **** it….don’t work for all my life…just claim benefits.

The labour government is no longer for the working class.

I used to vote Labour back in the 70s when they were led by Harold  Wilson and Jim Callaghan but sometime in the 80s, they went off the rails and became obsessed with multiculturalism. Since then, they've been the party for ethnic minorities and immigrants. Emily Thornberry's famous tweet from Rochester showed their contempt for the white working classes.

Back in those days people like you and Allen didn't have central heating, Sky or meals out, people have never had is good, even without the £200 WFP.

And yet all we hear left wingers shout is " poverty, poverty, heat or eat crisis, food banks, food banks wah wah, waaaah.

Well they haven't mentioned the above since the last general election to be fair.

I recall one prolific forum left winger accusing me of being ‘smug’ because I mentioned that despite coming from a council estate background, I was happy with my lot, had no debts, had savings and owned my own property.

Labour had a hand in this in the ‘old days’ by lending me a hand in getting to where I am, they now appear to look at the likes of me as being ‘one of the enemy’, their loss is another’s gain.:loopy:

Isn't it most of the working class who claim benefits?  (fair question)

I have no central heating and manage with an electric fire and a jacket if needs be.

Do you have to be left wing to shout the above.

There seem to be plenty of other persuasion who are shouting out similar comments ,and should have been better able to provide for their own living costs.

As previously commented I am all in favour in giving support to those who need it the most at the expense of people such as myself and others certainly wealthier than me who liked it rather than needed it.

If you define working class as poorer than average, then the benefits, child benefit and tax credits, pensions etc that are funded by the rich go mostly to working class.

At a guess, anyone earning less than £30k is a net recipient of benefits.
