Winter Fuel Allowance payments scrapped for millions of pensioners.

Anyone old couple or individual rattling around in a huge property and is struggling to pay bills can do something very easy to solve the problem.

There are plenty of people who don’t need the allowance. We shouldn’t be wasting public money by giving them a winter fuel allowance.

 

That way, we’ll have enough money to give one to those who do need it.

Makes sense,  though if pensioners downsize they could still want to claim the allowance.

So basically, and obviously not in all cases but I would suggest the majority...

 

Don't help those who probably studied harder rather than hanging out in the park and pub...

 

Don't help those who worked all hours to ensure a more comfortable later life but rather help those that did the minimum required or absolutely nothing at all but sponge off the system?

I think every pensioner should get the same as any other pensioner.

Maybe we should give everyone Universal Credit too.

 

And child benefit. We shouldn’t restrict that to people with kids.

 

And free school meals for everyone.

The winter fuel allowance started off as a payment for those on low incomes who struggled to pay their bills.

 

I think that is a reasonable use of taxpayers money.

 

I don’t think it is reasonable, or affordable to give it to everyone. I’ll be one of those not getting it, by the way.
