The sentencing council issue the guidelines for actual sentencing; courts do seem to follow those guidelines fairly closely from what I can gather, but hardly my specialist subject.

It seems Kevin Hurley, mentioned in an earlier video, has expressing concerns about those guidelines for a while.
He was after all an unsuccessful Conservative PCC candidate, who was later elected as PCC for Zero Tolerance Policing, a political party, of which he is leader [Electoral Commission link]

@peak4His EC registration looks a bit blank (and out of date?) and after reading that BBC link - from eight years ago - he doesn't sound as the job did him any favours in the intelligence area - his comments do not befit a senior police officer.

Suspended Labour councillor Ricky Jones has appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with encouraging violent disorder after comments he made at a counter protest in London.

Videos appeared online which seem to show ones, 57, telling a crowd in Walthamstow that far-right demonstrators should have their throats cut.

 

I think he should get a longer sentence than an ordinary bloke, he is in a position of responsibility. Having said that, I think 2/3 years is a long time to serve.

Perhaps the others should have received 1/2 years, although half of their time is on a tag.

LOL just stumbled on this video from a guy in Ghana on the subject of the riots, hes just driving round and talks about it rather than showing. Think the titles a little bit fanciful tbh, i cant remember people being dragged out of cars, but certainly people holed up in refugee houses and hotels that came under attack wouldve been African so he wasnt wrong there.

I just found it interesting and a lil bit funny that its made the news in ghana

There was a video doing the rounds where it was said an Asian looking male was dragged out of a car and attacked but the quality wasn't great. Could have been for real, could have been fake but the thought of it is really rather frightening.

 Yes  and its an excuse for failing working class people, stopping the winter fuel payments for pensioners and letting council houses fall into disrepair with ever increasing waiting lists for repairs.

cars were attacked and trashed and even burnt, cant remember about any occupied ones though
