"Cannot be named for legal reasons"?
What a cop out.
Nothing has stopped them naming names in the past... Robert Thompson and Jon Venables anyone?

Either there is some genuine, unknown reason why they can't name him.

Or he has a rather.... "exotic" last name and they think that if they release it more than a few riots will turn nasty.

Because that is the law, which can only be overturned on the public interest by a judge down the line.

It has all been discussed in this thread already:

Now the person has been charged lets hope the judge lifts restrictions on naming to end the speculation. He turns 18 very soon allegedly so hopefully the identity of this violent piece of scum will soon be known either way.

If the photos doing the rounds are real (doubtful) he certainly isn't 17.

Another way of looking at it would be that people could avoid speculating. Would that be so very hard?

Why is his name so important to you?

If he’s guilty of this hideous crime, then he deserves to rot in jail forever, regardless of his name, or any other characteristic that bothers you.

Been watching on tick tock live. Gangs  of feral youths  in Hartlepool, mainly 10 to 18 years old pelting the riot police with anything they could lay their hands on . Plod was showing remarkable restraint, bet they felt like battering them .

Who can blame them,  kids could say it was a badge of honour if they were arrested,  c'mon parents have your say.

Yeah this is what I don't get - what would it change? How would it help the families and others involved? How would it affect the outcome of any trial?

I get the sense of some people with some kind of checklist, and gaining some level of satisfaction if they manage to check a few boxes.

Sorry - in reviewing the thread I notice it was actually discussed earlier in this thread if you go back a few pages!
