Corrected that for you.

Very sensible.  Why the hell would any organisation put their employees at unnecessary risk unless absolutely needed.

It seems to have been the police's decision

A spokesperson for Mears said: “Our safety and security protocols for accommodation sites include escalation to the police where appropriate ...

The police made the decision that only essential staff should remain on site, in order to minimise the number of people they had to protect, and other staff were required to leave.

A team of seven staff remained in the hotel throughout to support service users and coordinate with the police.”

Some of the asylum seekers in the hotel were age-disputed children and others have disabilities or are particularly vulnerable owing to known trauma-related diagnoses, but there appeared to be no plan to prioritise their evacuation from the hotel.

Two asylum seekers said they had to put out some of the fires themselves.

When they were finally evacuated they said they had to sit in a coach on the hard shoulder of the motorway for several hours in the middle of the night until the Home Office decided where to send them.

The last comment seems odd, as normally the police wouldn't allow a coach to remain on the hard shoulder.

Not only odd, but extremely unbelievable, to boot.

That was what I thought myself, but one would hope a reporter would check that out before publishing it.
The coach occupants may well have believed they were on a motorway of course, whereas it may have been one of the many dual carriageways in the area.
Genuine question as I don't follow football; do the police ever stack supporters coaches on the motorway hard shoulder before escorting them to grounds?

I would have thought they would have taken it off the road altogether - to  a service area or similar, to be honest.

As to the football question - I would seriously doubt it, merely from a safety point of view, but I don't know the answer.

A 12-year-old boy's sentencing for violent disorder has been delayed because his mother is on holiday in Ibiza

The boy was involved in violence in Manchester on 31 July and 3 August

District Judge Joanne Hirst said she was "frankly astonished" that the mother decided to travel abroad with her son due in court

The boy - who was accompanied in court by his uncle - will now be sentenced on 11 September

Would holiday insurance cover the mother missing the holiday because her son is going to court?

Another example of family values going to pot, or maybe its a business trip and she desperately needs the cash.

She probably doesn't even know he was in court, too  busy getting tats and her nails done for Ibiza.

Don't be too harsh on her.

Seeing kids any getting harmed makes her 'kick off'.....

Apparently 🙄
