Living in squalor in Parson Cross-waiting for council repairs

That is a very good point.  Who is interested in someone living in squalor in a dilapidated council house in Parson Cross?  And not just squalor, there is an unsafe staircase.  This is a health and safety issue.  That staircase was deemed unsafe by joiners 5 years ago!  And she won’t be the only person living in squalor on Parson Cross.

I wonder what we are not being told here - as I've said previously, H&S issues have priority, so why hasn't it - apparently - been sorted?

There's something not sitting right with the story.

 

We've got a neighbour a couple of floors up who has a child in a wheelchair, but the way the doorways were built, there's a high lip where the frame is, so it's next to impossible to bump the chair over it.

Calls to the council and it was changed within 6 months... door removed, joiners in to remove the lip and a new door put in, fitted correctly and painted.

Well according to the report, the tenant explained ‘she has received no explanation from the council as to why the repairs are taking so long. “The problem seems to be that they’re not passing on their information to the planning department, and organising getting the work done. So they’re just sending more joiners out - it’s like we’re stuck in an endless circle.’

 

The council are not organised and the problem is being passed around different departments without getting resolved.

They have what is known as media liaison - and they do answer the phone - to the media.

It wasn’t an entirely serious comment…

 

That said, the tenants in council properties do have a lot of problems getting through to the council on the phone.  And as we see, even they do problems reported get pushed around from pillar to post.

So this individual claims.

I am not a council tenant, but have contacted the council on other matters often - and have rarely, if ever been 'pushed around from pillar to post'.
