Cricket legend Graham Thorpe dies aged 55.

Jeez. And at just 55. He left the England coaching set up when he was admitted to hospital maybe a year ago, and nothing was mentioned about his condition, until today.
That innings he played alongside Nasser against the Aussies at Edgbaston, pure class.

He batted. He was a man. So he was a batsman.

Yet the BBC insists on calling him a 'batter', as if he were a pourable dough.

What a trivial comment after such a sad event. We don’t talk about bowlsmen, they’re referred to as bowlers, so why not batters?

Superb batsman, saw him many times drag an England innings out of the doldrums, he had battles with depression and sadly he lost that battle, great shame for his loved ones.

I will always have fond memories of his on field achievments.

RIP

Very sad,  just read his wife said he took his own life.

The official announcement was he was struck by a train.
