The OP's choices have done more to lead to "increasing every thing in price that affects the working people", than anything this PM has done!

He's not been in a position to do much for long.

We all know about certain MPs fiddling their expenses. There's been huge scandals about it. Nobody's saying that those who commit fraud shouldn't be in penalised and punished for it.

But that is not even remotely the same as generic whines about subsidised facilities, allowances and expense accounts used by MPs and entire parliamentary staffs, that most of use won't even think about, which (taking away the hysterics) is justifiable expenditure and claimable just like it is in any other business.

You might have to be so bothered about what is happening in other countries but AnnaB must be because that's what she was obviously using us as this great comparison measure of how allegedly terrible we are.

As I said previously if an expense is accrued in the course of carrying out a job then it should obviously be repaid. However in many cases that's not what happens with MPs. They are using the expense system for their own personal benefit. And that is theft, pure and simple.

And seeing as how the decision has been made to stop fuel allowance for pensioners this should be reviewed. What was that Kier said " those with the broadest shoulders "?

Every MP has one 'office manager' chosen by the MP but vetted and paid for by Parliament. The 'office manager' has many roles but they are responsible for checking the accounts and expenses to do with Parliament before submission.  Additionally Parliament will check these accounts and expenses as will the their political party(whips office), the media and the public. Amongst the 600+ MP's there will those who commit fraud in error or deliberately and they will be pounced on by their political rivals, a hostile media, their own political party whips.

MP's are usually smart enough to know that proven corruption or fraud would be a career ending sentence, in and out of Parliament. Would anybody in their right minds risk a £4000 fraud against £400 000 salary over 5 years?  Far better to own your own political party and get a £million a year for a 36 hour week from the far-right media
