Nursery Rhymes - can we still use them

Recommended Posts

I was born in the 1950s and still remember the nursery rhymes of the time eg Three Blind Mice, Sing a Song of Sixpence etc. I recited them to my own children in the 1970s and to my nephew in the 1990s.  We now have a new baby in the family, the first child since my nephew was born in the 1990s. I am wondering whether it would still be acceptable to recite the same nursery rhymes., considering some of the “violent” words. What do other think?

Well it's no wonder kids grow up violent, when their parents tell them about the 3 blind mice..

Didn't they run after the Farmers wife, and she cut of their tails with a carving knife?

All it's doing is encouraging kids to go out and stab someone..

I love a good nursery rhyme.

Bar Bar Rainbow Sheep is my favourite.
