life of firesticks

I bought a couple of fairly low capacity firesticks about four years ago and hardly used them. But now they don't work when I plug either one in to the pc. The drop down offers to change something to windows 10 for me but after clicking on that offer the sticks still don'twork. I can't remember whether I was using Windows 9 at the time of writing on them but now I'm using Windows 10.  What is likely to be wrong which would stop these sticks working?

Fairly confused by this thread, because to me, this is a Fire Stick; 

 

It streams media, it doesn't store things.

They don’t last forever. Copying on to a hard drive is advisable.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know what happens inside them to stop them lasting much more than mine did?

Not got a clue.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, you can purchase new sticks cheap enough.

I saw 3 32GB ones on Amazon for £13.50
