No more so than any other mainly working class city, for exanple https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/threads/bread-and-dripping.56513/ And don't think "famous" is the right description. Hardly mass tourism coming to Sheffield for bread and dripping.
hauxwell
It has to be the Sheffield fish cake for me. I didn’t eat them very often when I lived in Sheffield and they don’t make them in the fish shops where I live in Newcastle, most people up here have no idea what they are. I do get the odd cravings for them but I’ll just have to wait until I visit Sheffield. It’s stottie cakes and pease pudding up here, it’s a traditional Newcastle specialty. Brooker11
What food items do you go out of your way to buy in Sheffield and always go back for more, two off the top of my head: Welsh Dragon sausages from Deans in the Moor Market Fish & Chips from Tony's in Mosborough
Baron99
Sage Derby cheese from Derne Farm Foods in Sheffield Market. Although they do probably another 30+ different cheeses as well.
hauxwell
Sage and onion Yorkshire puddings. I’m not sure if they are a Sheffield native food, but here in Newcastle/Gateshead no one has heard of them, it’s just plain Yorkshire Puddings up here in Newcastle.
