How many will be council homes / social housing  ?

City centre living and  social housing are not compatible because:

Investment and return for developers.

Market for City centre living aimed at younger singles/couples not families or older on a tighter budget.

Increase in housing stock releases more appropriate housing elsewhere and reduce house and rent inflation.

A report fro The Star claims SCC wants an extra 35,000 people living in the city centre by 2039, brought about by recent & proposed planning projects.  Most properties appear to be flats?  Sorry, luxury apartments.

All I can say is I'm glad I live in a leafy suburb.

Absolutely impossible to read even one sentence from that link... can you copy some text from it please if you have some kind of super ad-blocker?

Well Sheffield has declared itself the city of sanctuary so when nearly half the world is here we will all be living in rabbit hutches, o'h sorry, studios.

Studios, small flats are what most people live in when they can't afford houses.

Where I was last six months in Korea, I never once saw a single house. Everyone lives in tower blocks.

How many high rise have been demolished in Sheffield, remind us.

The problem I think with the Sheffield idea was it was a long time ago. They were randomly placed, and basically used to put people instead of knackered old back to backs. Times have changed. Tower blocks doesn't have to be a dirty word anymore.

Tower blocks are a part of life in big cities in populated areas in Asia, but they aren't crap like old British ones were.

They have gardens, playground, shops etc.

I used to want land in UK too, and had my own house. IN the last couple of years, I realise on a small island, or highly populated area, it's a pipedream.

familys do not want to live in the centre of sheffield, because its noisy and busy , but i think its a young persons 1st home, before selling on and getting married and then moving to a greener space, it does not work for familys in my opinion though.
