prince al
It is embarrassing that the English F.A. cannot find a suitable English replacement from all the retired English internationals.

Out of this list of 32 top players who became top managers there are only two Englishmen. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/top-players-who-became-great-coaches The rules of the game may have been formalised here but that doesn't really count for much. Perhaps accepting that there are far more successful national teams may be wise? This list isn't entirely convincing because the USA shouldn't be included, but as Spain rank tenth and England aren't included it does show the lack of awe that England engender throughout the football world. https://www.givemesport.com/most-successful-nations-in-football-history-by-major-trophies-won/ Perhaps giving the German guy a chance and not expecting certain glory might be the best approach?
prince al
No definitely not. I am not bothered about what has been or has not been achieved before. What the records are or what they lead you to believe.

And how many retired English internationals have been succesful managers - and winning the Scottish Prem is hardly "success".

There was once a top English born manager who would have had the support of the nation in respect the England job, his name was Brian Clough. The FA wanted a yes man…as ever. Someone in the FA told Jack Charlton to apply. He did so and didn’t even get a reply.

Things must be bad then, as they don’t appear to be able to find an English yes man, what’s the world of sport coming to? 😉

I take your point, but I don’t agree with it. But you don’t agree with me, that’s fine, no problem.
