What was Bellefield Road like?

Recommended Posts

If you mean Bellefield Street and not Road, then the green space would be the 'Ponderosa' - (Bonanza was on TV at the time)

Most of the houses were cleared away during the slum clearance of the 60's but if you go back to the Pictures Sheffield Site and search for Mushroom Lane - in fact look on a map and search for streets round where Bellefield Street was - you may have some luck.

I searched for Mushroom Lane and came up with the following link - not specifically Bellefield Street, but gives you some idea what the housing was like.

It could also have been Bellefield lane which was off Fawcett Street in " The Hollow", as it was locally known. Bellefield Street is opposite side of the street to St Stephens church, just as Docmel states , it is part of the Ponderosa (The Tip )
