Rivaltribal
Do you have to be a student at hallam to join? Wouldn't mind joining a gym and learning kickboxing would be pretty cool. Just can't really afford one of these expensive gyms being a student at the uni of shef like.

No you dont have to be a student at Hallam to either join sport hallam or to join in my classes at hallam uni. I also do classes at Sheffield university itself , The Goodwin sports centre on wednesday evenings at 6-7pm. Im going to start monday afternoons at 130-230pm (I think) soon too. Alternatively there is always Wellington Street Boxing gym in town where our H.Q. is.
the_mandarin
Fitness Unlimited is quite good and reasonably priced too. The prices are available here http://www.fit-un.com/content.php?nPageID=42 While there is no joining fee, you are required to stay with them for the first 3 months atleast (payment by direct debit) However, you are allowed to use any of their centres. I have been with them for about a year now and I feel the facilities at Ponds Forge are quite good. And if you work for some big organisation, they have corporate discounts too. If you know a member there, he/she can introduce you and you can get a 5-day free trial that includes a free induction!

go4it
CAn I ask what you dint like about FF. ?? Probably the fact that you have to pay a joining fee AND administration fee before you've even put one foot on the treadmill. Cowboys.
curlycurlz
depends what you want from a gym, if you wanna get on equipment and relax after work Vital Spa and leisure club next to the fountains in the city centre is good for that. its about 40 a month peak and 30 something off peak. dkhank
if you are a mum or dad and fancy to nip in to any council run gymn ( includes ponds forge ) etc etc get a spice card its a nominal amount like 3.00 quid. If not esporta is a very good gymn, do great kids parties etc but the people are a bit up there own .... but great facilities. there is also one on the moor, opposite woolworths thats good aswell ( i went there for ages) and so does my niece.. they are very friendly and if your bod is not in top shape .. dont worry !!!! excellent when i went... it was full of "normal" people in the gymn terminology!!
