I remember the chocolate The head mistress was called Miss Atkinson and she had a car which was very rare in those days Also remember Mr Kettlewell who taught all thro the Juniors 1947 -51.

I was there 1944-1950, Mr. Jackson was our last teacher, he also had a car, I thought he was the best thing since sliced bread, except we didn't have sliced bread then. Do you remember Miss Heaton? Mr Bloxham?. I also remember "OLD AKKO" giving me the cane, I probably deserved it but she wouldn't get away with it these days.

I was there in the 70's also had Mr Booth he was my favourite teacher.

Mr Trevethic taught me how to play chess and cross country running. I remember playing rounders no-one here in New Zealand has ever heard of that game.

Remember the youth club out the back of the dinner room.

I lived across the road from the school and if i was sick could here Mr Kay shouting from there. Didn't know Mr Booth was the head for a while.

What was the name of the teacher who had the american convertable that we would all pile in to go to netball games?

I went to Hartley Brook School in the 1970's, John Booth was my favorite teacher  but i will never forget Mr Kay "That's you playtime gone west" or "decorate the corridors at playtime" good times :)

I went to Hartley Brook Secondary School from 1958 to 1963. The Headmaster was Mr. Allen and the deputy head was Mr. Webster who was a strict bloke but a great teacher. Other teachers at that time were Mr. Hutchison, Mr. Turner (science) Mr. Galagher, Mr. Mayock, Mr. Inman, Miss Inman who I think later married Mr. Galagher, Mr. Brown (metal work), Miss Dixon (music), Mr. Southerd or Southern. I was Head Boy there in 1962 & 63. We didn't have a school playing field so on games day we had to walk up the road to Concord Park. The first year I was there I had my first fight with a kid in my class who was giving me some grief. We went down to the brook at dinner time along with a lot of onlookers. I punched this kid once on the nose and it was all over. We became good friends after that.

We didn't have a dining room when I first started their so the classes smelled of dinner for the rest of the afternoon. Two years later a dining room was built on land above the old air raid shelters.

I heard that Dennis was in Spain but was due to return to have an op on his ears. Dave Simmonite is still in the 2nd hand car game on London Road, I was in the same class as Mick Redfearn who is in Canada and posted a story on here about meeting Glenn Pickard who is also over there and running an airline. Paul Howe ( the tank) was agood rugby player.
