Financial Failings – Add to It

Injury Crisis – I have been racking my brains to think of a time when we have faced such a depleted squad through injuries. Injuries are not a new thing in fact at Wednesday we have probably had more than our fair share over the years. However there is a significant difference between then and now.

Dave Allen – No I’m not inferring that he has caused the injuries or attributed to them in any way shape or form but I am aware that he has presided over a period of allowing the club to decline without offering little hope of financial improvement. He has cut costs at every opportunity; he has allowed / removed good people from back room positions, people whose wages could have been met by sound commercial activities and the failure to capture the potential financial revenue that our vast fan base could bring to the club.

We see week in week out the off field financial and commercial activities of our rivals and indeed many, many other “smaller” clubs than ours continually generating additional revenue streams, these enable additional funds to be spent developing not only the playing side but also the back room functions at these football clubs.

So back to the injuries, if you want quality you need to pay for it and the same extends to Physiotherapists, we used to have the best, the likes of Alan Smith then Dave Galley and they would work wonders in getting players fit. We also used to send players to see the finest specialists you could find to aid speedy recovery. There was a leading consultant called Gibson who was so renowned for his ability in Hernia Op’s they used to refer to him as Gibson Hernia. Nigel Worthington was sent to him and he was back playing in 3 weeks – Un heard of at the time. Chris Waddle was sent to Edinburgh to see the leading specialist for Achilles injuries when he had ongoing problems. The list goes on.

Other clubs send players to the States, Germany, and Sweden trying to get there prized assets back playing as soon as possible. I don’t recall hearing of any of our squad sitting in oxygen tanks to speed recovery – We can’t afford it.

We can not afford to do this we are not quite as bad as the likes of Rotherham yet, who have to rely on the good only NHS to treat their players but unless the club starts accepting willing donations, improving its off field activities, talking to all potential investors and embracing all supporters regardless of view point then we will end up like the Rotherham’s of this world. Oh and forget the training ground plan – they are not going to happen.

Dave Allen & Kaven Walker you are continuing to destroy our football club please don’t delay and move on your egos might tell you otherwise but SWFC are bigger than you.

This is the latest injury update. The others could be reserves or academy players. It has become beyond comprehension  I honestly think Colin has sold his soul for all this :)
