Giving chicken bones to dogs... Dangerous or is it a myth?

Come on all you budding mythbusters out there.

It's a common theory that dogs shouldnt be given chicken bones but, lets be rate, how many chickens have been scoffed by foxes without a second thought?

Reason I ask is I read on another thread that Katy gives her pooch chicken bones.

I give our dog some of the carcass bones (but not the long limb bones for some bizarre reason)

So once and for all.

Is it OK or not to give a dog chicken bones?

Educated answers only - not hearsay pliz

my mum and dad used to give our dogs chicken bones as long as they werent the thin sharp type (like you get beside the one in a chicken leg). The dogs was always alright apart from having a tight squeeze at the rear end when its poo-poo time (and it was always dry white poo-poo).

I gave some to my dogs (under supervision) the other night, testing this theory (what a co-incidence!) and they both crunched them twice and they were gone. Lips-a-licking they'd have happily demolished a few more!

Have they pooh'd since then?
