Jose Mourinho has called for a fan who threw a bottle at Frank Lampard during the victory over Sheffield United to be jailed.

The incident happened in the closing moments of the Blues' 2-0 win at Bramall Lane when the England midfielder went to take a corner at the Blades' Kop end.

The Chelsea manager told the Daily Mail: "It's a serious incident but what can I say? If one guy did it, and if we can catch him and send him home or get him to spend a night in jail, that would be perfect. But it wouldn't be fair to punish the club or 30,000 fans."

He added: "I don't think the club can be punished because of one individual.

"Maybe the guy drank red wine or beer with breakfast instead of milk."

Lampard attempted to play down the incident, saying: "It was only a plastic water bottle and there are no hard feelings for me.

"I know it's not something you want to see, but if it had landed on me I might have felt different.

"There was quite good banter in the far corner and nothing nasty aimed at me."

we sat just behind the bottle thrower shame it never hit him..

and whats jose on about??? of course he drank lager for breakfast thats what happens when u kick off mid day... and hes a northerner not a southern shandy drinker..

If thats the best you can offer - keep it to yourself. If you had anything about you, you would tell the club/Police who that pratt is that threw the bottle.

Or don't you remember that G and H blocks were shut because of idiots launching missiles and invading the pitch.

your a complete pratt, you should have reported this 'fan' to the nearest steward. United don't need enemies when we have fans like you 2.

Sheffield United's Ade Akinbiyi is a target for a number of Championship clubs

The experienced striker looks set to leave Bramall Lane and has attracted interest from former clubs Stoke City and Burnley.

Southend boss Steve Tilson is keen to bring a target man in to boost his side's hopes of staying in the Championship.
