BAZZO
The thread seems to have stayed from the original point about football clubs paying their whack of extra policing on match days. Just to set the record straight clubs pay only the policing costs inside the stadia. The remaining substantial cost is paid for by the rest of the community -football supporters or not. The arguments about raising the profile of cities with premiership sides are somewhat flakey as outbreaks of hooliganism attract negative publicity and actually deter visitors and shoppers to areas near football grounds. I don't remember any major outbreaks of hooliganism that have occurred recently and given a negative impression of any british town/city.
DavidRa
Dont care, mate - Middlesborough WAS in Cleveland - you can't just decide somewhere along the line to change it to North Yorkshire. Us yorkshire folk have the right to deny intruders our proud heritage. Middlesborough folk are not Yorkshire folk not now not ever ---HANDS OFF If you check historically Middlesborough was in Yorkshire ,until idiots changed it .Hull was in Yorkshire and then became Humberside, and now it is back in Yorkshire. To go back to the thread how much do pubs night clubs etc,pay for policing. Yeah, and until relatively recently, the Glorious Yorkshire CCC still played home matches at 'Boro, even though it had been cleft from its rightful home .......
