everton999
Hi, I new to sheffield and was woundering if there is any freindly poker schools who wouldn't mind an extra player. I would prefere a friendly game rather than the big casino games, as I tend to spend far too much money when I attend the casino. I thinking something along the lines of £20 - £30 for the night in some kind of winner takes all set up. But willing to go with any other kind of set up as long as the total stakes are no more than about £30. If nobody has a poker school already up and running that I can join, would anybody else fancy starting one with me. We would need at least 6 people to get a reasonable game going. I have chips, cards etc so just need the people. Let me know if there is any interest. Thanks Tom

merseyman
There was an advert in the Mercury Newspaper this week , about a free hold 'em pub nights starting in October. At the moment it is a free to enter game with no cash prizes , but prizes such as holidays , tellys ,etc. Then it said that in the new year it was going to run on a league system ( ? ) .I think the better you do the more points you get , then those with the top scores enter a end of year tournemant. The Mercury is the free paper which tells you what is on in the working mens clubs in Sheffield and the local area.

everton999
I don't see you point - I play with real players all the time. But I don't want to play in casino because i lose money on the other games.
tony2311
in casino its £20 a buy in, once you lose the 1500chip you have option to leave the tourney or buy another 1500 for £20, after 2 hours you cant buy in anymore, there is around 80 player with lots of rebuys so the money pot is big, At this stage once you are skint you are out, The tables will be reduced one by one till the final, If you get this far you will have at least play on 4 tables against 40-50 different players, What better way to learn the game against south yorkshire finest, Instead of playing the same few players? tony2311
if you won many of them why will your budget be £20??? what kick will you get from playing 6 players to win £100 when a win in casino poker is like £3500??? if you won many why can you only afford £20? You dont have to play the other games as cash game is avaliable staight after tourney with £50 a buy in, it doesnt add up does it?
everton999
its not about the money - as the 2nd line of my orginal post said i prefere freindly games to casino ones. I want to play with a freindly bunch of people and have a few drinks and a good night. I set small budget because when they get bigger they lose the freindly sense and become less fun (in my opinion) - I'm not trying to get and richer from playing just want a good night.
