kowalski
Ok firstly I've been in Sheffield now for nearly four years and I can count the places where I can get a good pint in the city centre on one hand; Devonshire Cat, etc....... Where is there that doesn't serve a brew that tastes like paint? Secondly, WHY ON EARTH WAS O'NEILLS ON WEST STREET ALLOWED TO CLOSE?? S1 Bar is a poor replacement!! This question vexes me still! CaptainSleep
There are loads of good pubs in town, you just have to look for them. Have you tried the Bath Hotel, The Red Deer, Dog and Partridge, Grapes, Washington, Three Tuns, Fagans etc
tas1
Devonshire Cat - one road down from divi st. Red Deer both worth the walk (about 5 mins from JL's)
Andy78
My vote goes to the Red Deer too. lovely pub, great beers, tasty food and possibly the hardest pub quiz in the world on a Sunday. Incidentally, I think O'Neills closed because, apart from at weekends it was always dead in there.

O'Neills closed because fake Irish theme pubs with overpriced crap beer went out of fashion. I think S1 is owned by the same pubco, it was just a conversion job. Squiggs
The Brown Bear is good too - Sam Smiths pub and damn cheap - you can still get a round of 3 drinks and get change from a fiver! Good lager too if bitter isn't your tipple - and they do look like they're trying to rid the place of the "itinerant salesmen"
ms de meaner
the brown bear's great - lots of random decor and fantastic cheap beer.
Classic Rock
The Classic Rock Bar! Live music nightly and we've been nominated as pub of the month in the latest CAMRA guide. Nearly fell off me bar stool when I read that!
