They are not solely for students and many "sheffield locals" ass to the atmosphere and social lives of both clubs. SHEFFIELD UNIVERSITY Usport Goodwin sports centre , Northumberland Road Sheffield S10 MONDAY 1-2PM (especially good for shift workers or people who work nights) WEDNESDAY 6-7pm Both classes are mainly for beginners and involve technique and padwork but no sparring as yet. They are both new classes too. The monday class starts on October the 2nd so everyone will be in the same boat. SHEFFIELD HALLAM UNIVERSITY Sport Hallam Collegiate Campus Broomgrove road (These classes are established and have been going for the past 8 years) BEGINNERS COURSE = TUESDAY/THURSDAY 730-830PM In the beginners course you will be taught the contents of the White Belt syllabus as well as a bit of basic self defence. A lot of the course is application of kickboxing tecniques for increasing all round fitness levels. The course however does not extend beyond White Belt level. INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED CLASSES = TUE/THUR 830-930PM These classes focus around the grading syllabus beyond White Belt level as well as including elements of competitive fighting. In this class you will cover a different page of the syllabus each class. Each level of the syllabus includes Punching/Kicking /Knee&Elbow Techniques as well as Defensive Maneuvres both for self defence as well as ringcraft based defence. There is also a lot of fitness work achieved through padwork on focus mitts, thai pads and kick shields. Sparring is done in these classes too. The standard of these classes are such that British University champions have been found from these particular sessions. Most recent examples = Sunny "the snake" Singh and "Wonderful" Wayne Betts. The graded classes are treated as a "feeder school" for the fighters classes at Wellington Street Boxing gym. chefkicker Posted October 12, 2006 Author Share Posted October 12, 2006 DAMN!!! Tuesday 730pm at hallam &Wednesday 6pm at goodwin centre are packed!!! Was mainly girls in those classes.
