Unakite
Theres a band about Sheffield called Darlings of the Splitscreen. I saw them at at an arts center in Reading a year ago. Bit rough around the edges but kicked arse. Who is "the moon".
SheffieldSean
Well, you'd do far worse than checking out Richard Hawley. Formerly with the Longpigs and now working with Pulp, Hawley has also worked with the likes of Lee Hazlewood, Nancy Sinatra and Scott Walker. He really is very good indeed. Check out 2001's eponymous debut and Late Night Final plus this year's Lowedges. The electronic scene that gave the world the likes of Cabaret Voltaire and the Human League has also been updated. Buy this new compilation Northern Electronic - it's ace. Oh, both Coldplay (who have had Hawley as their supporting act) and Radiohead both namecheck him as their favourite recording artist at the moment! kylehammond
Check out Daybreak. Fairly new on the Sheffield gigging seen. Been going for about a year, but bass player issues, getting a demo done etc has made gigging hard, so we've only hit the live scene recently. Check out some MP3's on http://www.daybreakmusicuk.com

Holly Jacobs
I saw the best band in Sheffield the other night, or at least I think they were from Sheffield! They supported The AM (who were missing Jeff Buckley badly) at the Fez club on Monday and they were ace. They had a cello and a double bass and a big guy singing with a really powerful voice but it doesn't sound like it should, but it rocked. Does anyone know who they are and when they'll play again?
