go4it Posted November 4, 2006 Share Posted November 4, 2006 I ran the marathon this year, my top tip is make sure that you run at least 20 miles in training at some point. Build up to it gradually. The first half of the marathon is easy, you have lots of landmarks to aim for (Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge). Once you are over the bridge it is one big loop which seems to take forever! If you don't run 20 miles your legs will disintegrate (like me, I struggled badly over last 8 miles!). I ran 1hr 50 first half and finished in 4hrs 30.
