Kismet Pumps

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any info on the Kismet manufacturing firm (earlier , William Turner and Brother) that used to operate at Eyre Works ?. This is another attempt , because my subject under the heading "Turner's Quadruple Pump" failed to draw a response due to perhaps being too specific.

PS, I missed out on a Kismet pump offered on EBay recently!!

I think Pneumatic Components Ltd (PCL) moved off Eyre Street in the mid/late 80s - I have a feeling that they moved to a new factory in Mosborough!

I think the site they occupied is now a car park?

pcl was founded in 1938 and had two factories 1 being the eyre street plant where garage forcourt equipment was manufactured. the second site was at hobrook industrial estate (pcl cygnus), where footpumps, car wash, car vacs and jet washes were manufactured. in 1990 the sale of the car wash, vac and jet washes were sold to a competitior although the factory was not sold, footpumps carried on at mosborough and in 1992 the eyre st plant started a move to the mosborough site, in 1993 the final phase of the move was completed and the eyre street plant finally closed. eyre st was sold by PCL later to be sold again and now sites the new fire station headquarters.

if you do require your unit to be looked at, contact pcl i have had dealing with them, they are a good bunch and will look after you.
