We have just returned from holiday to hear the sad news of Tony's death - We last saw him in Doncaster at the Civic last year - he was not well then - nothing near his old form. I prefer to remember him at the Bay Horse folk club in Bentley where I last saw him a couple of years ago - I spoke to him after the gig, thanking him for bringing back memories of the late 60's and early 70's folk scene - by, 'e were great then - Tony thanked me, shook my hand and gave me a hug. One of the best......

Got a reply just before 5pm, thank you Radio Sheffield.

They are looking into producing a show of TC's best moments on air to be broadcast around Xmas time. Hoorah!

The Tony Capstick tribute programme is on Radio Sheffield this Sunday 23rd Nov at 1000, with repeats on Christmas Day at 1200 & New Year's Eve at 1300.

Tony was a beautiful person ("real person"). He interviewed our band three times on radio Sheffield, and made us all feel totally relaxed and welcome. I dont know the politics behind his dismissal, but i always enjoyed his show, right up to the end. I try to listen to radio Sheffield sometimes, but find some of the new presenters, (especially a couple of male ones) more interested in hearing their own voices..........and one presenter ( i think he's Liverpudlian) asks women to "kiss him" on air.....i find this very "cringeworthy". Tony was fantastic !!!

Just visiting the Sheffield Forums from here in Wisconsin.... very sorry to hear the sad news of Tony's death. I have been here one year today so I still had the pleasure of hearing him on Radio Sheffield before I left.

His afternoon show was the best though... kept me going on many a tedious day. Not just his humour but his knowledge of history, both local and American was broad. A facinating man to listen to, remember his regular guest 'metal detecting Martin'?... great stuff. Sadly he will be missed.
