Timbuck
Can anyone remember Mobo Horse racing at the Capital Cinama in the 50s ..It was great fun, they had about six metal Mobo's and volunteers from the audience would race across the stage in front of the screen....This was a time when Television was becoming a threat to the Cinama's and desperate managers had to think up new ideas to drag in the punters. pietro
Timbuck I was too young to remember "The Mobos" at the Capitol, my locals were the Forum (Longley) and the Ritz at Southey (still standing, awaiting demolition). I have two questions for you, to settle an arguement. The few times that we went to the Capitol, (in the evening), we always called at the newsagents at Sheffield Lane Top, opposite The Pheasant, to stock up on sweets etc. before walking down the hill. Was it called The Rendevous?. Also, was it a coffee bar, I can vaguely remember tables and stools down the right hand side.
