brian1941
The ones at the bottom of the Moor stank horrendous. Though not as bad as the gents in the old Castle Market. The smell of the butchers, fishmongers mixed with stale urine was horrendous ---------------- Yes it did i agree with you Mister M, What i thought was wrong that the fishmongers and the Butchers and many more off them stalls use to go in the toilets with their Aprons on. they just pulled it a one side, whats to say they did'nt catch it on themselfs when one is shaking ? or even catch it on the urine toilet itself. They have took their old habits down to the New Moor Market. :gag:

Hopman
If a former loo was turned into a sandwich shop, would a suitable name be "Bog rolls"?

Ms Interpret
There was a gents' toilet at Malin Bridge, down some steps on the corner of Rivelin Valley Road opposite the shops. It's shown on this 1950s OS map. I seem to remember some at Hillsboro near where The Wetherspoons pub is that used to be swimming baths I think these were the ladies and you went down some steps (where those posts are on this picture https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/4+Rawson+Spring+Way,+Sheffield+S6+1PG/@53.4021972,-1.5003106,3a,75y,196.9h,85.27t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sz-AGUroYK1SjvDLD_V6DQw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo1.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3Dz-AGUroYK1SjvDLD_V6DQw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D314.27444%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x487978eefdd0d0cb:0x222fe1e5973c7396!8m2!3d53.410544!4d-1.494901!6m1!1e1 http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s03645&action=zoom&pos=14&id=7200&continueUrl= Edited April 24, 2017 by Ms Interpret

They closed at about the same time as the baths, after which the strange metal pod thing was put in place on Holme Lane.
