Darbees
Some of the Highway code is advisory and some (like the speed limit....) is not. I have no objection to people "getting in front of me" provided they are sticking to the same set of rules (and showing the same degree of courtesy....) as I am. Anyone involved in any game will get upset if anyone else fails to stick to the rules, and lets face it driving is definately far more serious than any game, potentially lives are at stake Lives might be at stake if something dangerous is being done but in my scenario nothing is being done dangerously. Am I getting a feeling of deja vu here btw?
Justin Smith
Incidentally one of the worst pieces of driving I`ve ever seen occured at that junction in front of Swann Mortons. I won`t bore you with the details but it was 6 years ago, I can still remember part of the reg (it started TX51) and it was a silver VW Passat, a German car....... I was very keen to tell the imbecile just what I thought of him but the lights at Hillsborough corner stopped me....... The incredible thing is the guy had his wife in the front seat and if I hadn`t swerved out of the way it was her who would have made intimate contact with the rear of a parked truck. I just hope she was so angry with him that he didn`t get his grunties all week !
madcow
It depends on definition of crap driver. In general crap drivers drive crap cars and these cars are usually little and cheap such as with name something like Deawoo Matiz, Hyundai Atos. Suzuki Alto and Wagon R, Vauxhall Agila, Kia Pride and the most popular one the Ford Ka. No one who has driven white vans criticise them any more because they are great, you should all try one first. sorry mate but i take exception to the ka being in your list ,only coz i have one, i have held my license for over 25 yr's ,(accident free & no dis-qualifications) and in that time have had over 60 cars of all shapes & size's ,makes & marque's for "crap drivers", you should be looking at a/ any bmw driver b/ any taxi driver but far and away the worst drivers are those in " chelsea tractors",as they obviously buy the road too when they get one. Ok, just be careful in it though. Silver BM 3 series are the worst I think, I think I said taxis earlier in the thread, I can't remember it varies day to day. Today it's myself for upsetting these good drivers on Penistone Rd but not sure what car I'll be in later when I'm terrorising them all.

Cyclone
Out of interest, why do you think car make or model helps to identify bad drivers. Most people start off with small cheap cars and depending on desire and available funds move up to more expensive and/or bigger/faster cars. There isnt normally any sudden drop in ability when one buys a BMW, nor a volvo, nor any other type of car.
buck
In my experience, the worst drivers tend to be those wearing a head covering of some kind, whether that's an old bloke in a hat or a young bloke in a baseball cap. I always assume they're going to do really stupid things, and take extra care around them. StarSparkle I have to agree with you there. Like I always say to the wife when one dawdles in front of me " He wears it to keep his brains warm"

You'd think eouldn't you, but there it is! No, I jest. I think a lot of the time their ability to afford a bigger car allows people to drive the way they wanted to while owning a smaller car. It also means quite likely they have been on the road longer so may have become a bit blase (sp?) about their (bad?) driving habits they have picked up. I think that tends to be true of some people who get company cars and have cars they would never dream of buying if they paid for them themselves. My son was telling me of a mate recently who got a job with company car and hadn't passed his test. He took his test and was given a brand new Audi A6. Pretty good incentive to pass mind but that is a pretty powerful big car for a complete novice.
