General Cemetery AGM - help needed

Recommended Posts

After seventeen years ministering to the needs of the General Cemetery, the finest Victorian cemetery in the north of England, the Friends of the General Cemetery (now known as Sheffield General Cemetery Trust) are sorely in need of some new blood. We have had a busy year and our founder member, Jane Horton, is moving out of Sheffield. Several members of the management team would also like to cut back on their workload.

We don't want the Friends to fail, as I'm sure you don't, but we urgently need a Secretary and a Chair by the time of next weeeks AGM - 7pm Thursday 16th November at the Lansdowne Chapel on Cemetery Road. We also need new volunteers to help with running the Gatehouse office on a rota basis, and with gardening, fundraising, campaigning and running site tours.

We have had some good responses to our call for help bringing new blood to the Trust, but are not out of the woods yet. We are lacking a volunteer to supervise our historical research service, help with genealogy and articles about the cemetery. It doesn't have to be an onerous task - it can be what you make it.

If you are a member please attend the AGM on Thursday.
