extaxman
I once read somewhere that the name Maugerhay was derived from "Mag (magpie) in the hay". Don't know how true that was.
Cynthia
Hi. kath2ivan- My grandsons weht to Norton free a long time after your dates. They lived on Norton Park View before we all emigrating to Canada. And yes Taxman, Maugerhay is derived from Magpie in the hay. Cheers, Cynthia, Ontario, Canada. Hi Kathleen, I think everyone who went to The school has happy memories of their time there.MrsBramhall, Mrs Church, and Mrs Clinton were great teachers. One thing I did not like was the school dinners out of the metal containers that often arrived at 10.30 am. One day I refused to eat mine and so Mrs Bramhall made me sit there until I did. I sat there for at least 30 minutes until I realised she was not going to give in and so I ate it cold. The only family I can think of with several children at the school were the Lathams?
kath2ivan
Hello Mikeyh. Yes. I do remember the metal containers being delivered. They were left in the Girls Cloakroom. My maiden name is Athorn. You may remember Christopher. My older brother. He became an Engineer. Did you know Lesley Marshall and Richard Coupe?
