OPEN STUDIOS PERSISTENCE WORKS

Sat 25 Nov 11am-4pm

The weather looks set to be gloomy this weekend, so why not spend a good part of the day at Persistence Works? There's lots to do, it's all inside and most of it's free!

Here's a glimpse of what there is to do:

OPEN STUDIOS - 39 studios will be open throughout the day, giving visitors an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to the artists based at Persistence Works.

ORIGAMI WORKSHOPS WITH JAPANESE ARTIST SEIKO KINO****A, for people of all ages! (11am to 12 midday and 1pm to 2pm with a nominal charge of £2 to cover costs)

CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES AROUND THE BUILDING, including a dinosaur hunt and a quiz to keep the youngsters amused

AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN ARTWORK

Derek Lodge, the current Artist in Residence, will be welcoming visitors to his studio in the Public Art Space. Derek has been making a ‘musical documentary’ based on his experience of Sheffield and its people. It is his intention to base part of the video on the Open Studios event. You can help by appearing in the film or filling in question forms, which will be turned into lyrics.

KID ACNE, INTERNATIONAL STREET ARTIST who will be talking about his recent work and taking visitors to view one of his large on-site wall paintings. (1pm to 2pm. Meet at the front door at 12.45pm)

GUIDED TOURS BY ARTISTS BASED IN THE BUILDING, who will be taking people round in groups of 10, giving their personal perspectives and sharing insights on what it’s like to work in Persistence Works. (11am, 12 midday and 1pm)

And much much more...
