Learning to play the Saxophone

Recommended Posts

An entry-level alto sax costs about £300; most people start out on these as they're fairly easy to handle. You will need a teacher, at least at first; you need to have some guy tell you how to get a good tone and to tell you all the arcane music theory you need to know, neither of which are easy. It takes a lot of effort to get decent at playing but it's well worth it :)

Also, many music shops will rent you a sax for a few months for £50 or so, which is worth trying if you're not sure.

Thanks for the advice. I have played the piano for years and have done grade 5 theory of music so I am not a complete ammature but i def agree I will need some tuition to get me going. Renting a sax is a great idea as it at least means I can try it out and see how I like it for a bit...!:P:gag::(:heyhey::shakes::surprised:clap::nono::twisted:
