Rutland Arms Closing? (Nope, it's reopened!)

Hi. Just a note from the previous staff - we heard a rumour from our regulars that they've been told that all the old staff at the Rutters didn't want to continue working there. So the story goes 'they were asked to stay but didn't want to'. As all of you know this IS NOT TRUE. We loved the Rutland. Whether this is rumour or the truth we want all our regulars to know that we didn't want to leave and were not asked back but hope they're enjoying the new ownership and the improvements which they've made.

I haven't had a chance to go back since it reopened, but if what you say is true, then it's a damned shame. Bad vibes.

  • 5 weeks later...
Have they actually changed it inside yet? When I went a few weeks ago nothing much had happened other than most of Phil's old tat being removed.

Not a great deal of change so far. Phil's old tat went with Phil so the place was very bare for the first few days. Since then, a new carpet has been put in, and a few framed photos of bands that have played at Plug have been put up. So there's still a need for a bit of redecoration and upholstery. The beer garden was tidied up a few days ago so is ready for al fresco drinking again, but is a bit bare too, waiting for plants and whatnot to be put in.
