Gatecrasher "old" people don't go

Clubs like that have always been pretty random though, and that's part of their supposed 'allure'. I wouldn't expect owt else from Crasher.

You can't beat the time that Nile Rodgers of Chic was turned away by Studio 54 when his band were at the height of their disco-dominating powers. It all ended happily though; in his frustration, he wrote a riff that went "Aaaaah, F*** OFF!" which later transmogrified into "Aaaaaah, FREAK OUT!" and became their biggest hit.

and for that exact reason its full nearly ever weekend!! so yes, why should people go clubbing spend money on nice clothes then see scrubbers

(waits for outburst) sorry perhaps a little strong, but PEOPLE need to make an effort when they go out.. if they dont then good i'm glad the doormen stop them coming in!! it also stops the likes of NICHE kids coming in cos they are scrubbers, again i like the music policy in NICHE just not the scrubber that are in there

A tad harsh mate. I had made an effort, as I stated in my original post I was wearing a shirt which is something I don't often do outside of work. It's just that the effort I had made still wasn't fashionable enough.

If some people think that the most important thing about going clubbing is looking good then fair play to them, Gatecrasher is the obvious place for them to go. Personally I prefer clubs where there isn't any kind of dress code and they will let anybody in as there is always a much better atmosphere in that kind of club. Plus, when it gets to three o'clock in the morning and I have sweated out half my bodyweight into whatever clothes I am wearing, I would rather they weren't overly expensive. :D

Errrr no you don't!

With regards to gatecrasher, its down to the twisted discretion of the neanderthal door staff. Simply making an effort isn't enough, you have to be "trendy enough" too.

Make an effort

dont go in, in a gang of more than 4 males

door staff are very professional there!!

so your comments dont really make sence?? what are you getting at pleaes

Not read the whole post but last time I went me and my bf got IDed at the bar and they wouldn't serve us without it. (Even though we got let in and payed to get in) We are 23/24 and I have been going to the soddin place since I was 15.... without getting IDed so    I wont be going again if I can avoid it and can agree with the OP about the ageist attitude, although saying that, my dad went earlier this year and hes 53!

I don't know if anyone remembers this little slogan:

"Dress up, dress down, dress square, dress round. We want you for your heart, not your Armani shirt."

That, believe it or not, was from the original ad for The Republic that appeared in the music press in late 1995, around the time that the venue opened.

Your comment said that all you have to do to get into gatecrasher is to simply make an effort. I simply said that that is not always the case. I know people, and have seen people, who have looked smart, not appeared to be drunk, being turned away from gatecrasher, for what seems to be no apparent reason.

As for the door staff being professional! If you say so.

some simple & Easy steps to ensure you get in

1) Dress smart, No names on clothes showing i.e rockport etc

2) If your a group of guys, split up in to 2's

3) make an effort!!

4) make sure your not steamed drunk

5) dont muck about in the que

6) No running trainers, i.e nike. simple white plain trainers are fine!

7) no blue denim

8) look clean!!!

simple but obvious

if everybody on here is aware theres problems getting in make an effort. If they turn you away ask why! which i have done before, easy for me i went home got changed and went back to the front of the que and they let me in and had a good night
