DaveC
Hi Tuppie, The brother in question is William Firth. Born 1843, and married to Margaret Hannah Marson 26 Oct. 1881 at York registry office, William was a widower, his father was listed as Thomas Firth (deceased) any details on father & son appreciated as Margaret is my wife's grandmother thanks DaveC
Tuppie
Hi. If you have the marriage certificate...What was his occupation and his father Thomas's occupation. Have you found him on the 1891 census after his marriage to Margaret.? You may have more replies if you post your query here. http://sheff-indexers.thewholeshebang.org/index.html OR http://www.sheffieldfhs.org.uk/ Tuppie
HughW
Also, what are the addresses and Margaret's age on the marriage certificate? (though I think I found her birth in 1855). As Margaret's birth was registered in Beverley and they were married in York, what, if any, is the Sheffield connection? Hugh
DaveC
Hi Tuppie & Hugh, William`s occupation given as Pork Butcher & his father Thomas as shoemaker. The residence at marriage was Railway St. York. Margaret's age was 27.As yet we haven't found them in the census. We were told they were related to the steel brothers but we don't know what the connection is. DaveC
