Hi magic fairy

I know Barry very well,he used to due a lot of diving at one time,he is also a friend of Heinz Luthringhauser Ibelieve he fixed him up with a Rensport engine and introduced him to the BMW bosses. I used to work with Molly at Globe and Simpsons on West St. Afew years ago we all used to meet in the Strines when Stan had it

I remember Barry diving and then taking up flying microlights, always loved safe sports did Barry. He was a mate of Georg Auerbacher as well, told me about Georg being seriously injured using some dodgy discs in IOM TT.

I got another one to test your memories, Frank Shillito at Newmillerdam on the Wakefield road. Good engineer [when you could persuade him to work]. He used to specialise in Vincent rebuilds and repairs. One of his better 'mods' was to put a Norton clutch into a Vincent, getting rid of the old temperamental Vincent clutch. He used to ride a Shadow cum Rapide himself, very scruffy but well engineered bike. He would never wear a helmet, said someone had once borrowed his and never brought it back. He was too tight to buy another.

Going back a bit further, the 1925 directory includes:

Harry Eggington, motor cycle maker, 7 Commonside

Albert Gilman, motor cycle dealer, 17 Grimesthorpe Road

Horridge & Wildgoose, motor cycle agents, 890 Ecclesall Road (George W. Horridge, residence, 6 Dunkeld Road; Reginald Wildgoose 139 Murray Road)

Jack Haslam & Ronald Morrison, 2 Silver Birch Avenue

Frank B. Roper, motor cycle dealer, engineer and garage - 158, 166-8 London Road

Robert Williams & Son, motor cycle dealers, 47 Commonside

There was also John A. Stacey, who by 1925 dealt mostly in cars but still sold a few motorbikes at 10-14 Ecclesall Road. In the (perhaps unlikely) event that any forummer has a copy of the March issue of "Motor Biking Bygones" (Scunthorpe & Grimsby Telegraph) they can read my well-illustrated article about John Stacey and his bikes!

In the late 60s I used to do a few bits of welding repairs for Grays, the guy who brought the stuff in was called Jeff Hall. I always assumed he was the same Jeff Hall with the bike sales a few years later, but never knew
