skippy
I'm afraid that I have to go back to the 50's with my memories but I recall a shop on London Road (I think) called Cadwalladers. You are right there Puffin, Joyce & Stan Cadwallender owned 2 shops down that end of town after Stan took over from his dad, it's a small world, they live in a neighbouring suburb to me here in Oz. handypandy
Do any of you old biker boys remember a lad called Dennis Bingham? He was from Retford and his dad had a carpet shop in Gainsborough. We were mates as teenagers when both our dads had market stalls in Worksop. Dennis's dad (George I think)originated from Shiregreen. Dennis and his wife used to do sidecar racing. Back in the 70's I saw them on a BBC documentary about the TT. I think his wife was killed whilst racing shortly afterwards.

I think Denis still has a carpet shop as I bought a carpet from him a few years ago.I think it was 1984 when the husband and wife team finished second at the sidecar TT ,4 seconds behind the winner. She would have been the first woman to win a TT.I still dont think a woman has won yet.The tv documentary was about the same time and was on the lines of what would happen to your kids if you were killed.I think (and hope ,as they are nice people) that they are both still with us.
